Writing was always part of my life -a bit like music has- so It had its up-and-downs with me, and never surfaced as an “official activity” until last June -when a little poem I wrote was noticed by a friend poet in England, who got enthusiastic about it and offered to publish it on a local magazine, where he takes care of a poetry column. This kind poet and friend is Maurice Spillane –here you can visit his website- and I leave the little poem tell you more about what writing means to me (together with a view of Liddington Hill, a landscape I have called Home for some beautiful months this year).
The reason I write.
My catch up
With Silence.
I get the soul
Off the wood
While it still vibrates,
lead it back
fingertips to toes
hoping it will be at ease,
and stay.
Writing is leaving
Echoes behind,
and step out of the cave,
cry in the open air
-I’m still alive!-
And hugging such thought
On my chest, muffling
the drum under the shallow skin
We are child, teddy bear and pen
Sliding swiftly
From page into dream.

Both the image above and the poem below come from a hike on the Cascade Head Trail, during my Residency at the Sitka Centre for Art and Ecology (part of the Project “NewWorlds -an artistic journey”).
Letter to an older self
Hello Elder,
I see you.
I see you sit
At the edge of sea and
Wave your hand at me.
I see you weave
The joys and grays
And count the wrinkles,
And stroke the sky and waves
-our look-alikes.
Hello Elder,
I see your eyes of stars,
the knitted coat of clouds,
And your dance with fire and thunder
In the warmth of your World house.
I see the green buds sprout
From your nose and ears.
In my skin I plant
these earring-seeds today,
And they will grow through years.
Hello Elder,
I am meeting you today.
In some sweet lace of time,
We’re just together,
Hand in hand,
Our hearts alike.
And then I will grow old,
And then you will be young
again.
And still,
It always will
be all
In this thinnest line of blue,
Where you stroke the sky and wave
And gently guide my hand
through another day.
